Mexico
Mexico has huge economic potential as a bridge between Latin America and the USA. The emerging market is the second-largest national economy in Latin America, the twelfth-largest trading nation in the world and the sixth-largest oil producer. Many investors, including companies from Germany, are represented in Mexico, which acquired "investment grade" some years ago.
DEG has had commitments in Mexico since 1966, investing 450 million euros in 72 private project companies. The current DEG portfolio includes approximately 150 million euros for 22 projects. From the point of view of DEG, there are interesting investment prospects in the manufacturing industries, in infrastructure, -especially in the field of renewable energy - and in agriculture.
DEG has had a representative office in Mexico City since 2003 in order to act for clients on the spot. In Latin America, there are three DEG offices: besides Mexico City one office in Peru's capital Lima and another one in São Paulo in Brazil.
